# Referrals

Each of your Creator Groups will have a Referral Program available automatically.

A referral records interest a creator drives to your games. Each of your Creator Groups has a Referral Program available automatically.

## Program types

By default, each Referral Program will be public, but you can change this setting through your [Nexus Dashboard](https://www.nexus.gg/publisher/dashboard/settings).

### Public

A Public Referral Program will allow the use of any Nexus Support-a-Creator code.

### Private

A Private Referral Program will limit the codes that may be used when creating a referral. A referral created for a Private Referral Program must meet one of the following requirements:

* A code belonging to a Creator Group member
* A Referral Code you generated through the Nexus API
* A code for an existing Nexus account linked to your Referral Program through the Nexus API
